  • 1 cup butter, 2 cups white sugar, 4 eggs, 1 cup buttermilk, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, 3 cups all-purpose flour, ½ teaspoon baking powder, ½ teaspoon baking soda, 1 pinch salt, 1 teaspoon rum flavored extract

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour one 9 or 10 inch tube pan.

2. Cream 1 cup of the butter and 2 cups of the white sugar together until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.

3. Sift the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt together into a separate bowl. Add alternately with the buttermilk to the egg mixture, beginning and ending with flour mixture. Stir in vanilla extract and rum flavored extract until just combined Pour batter into prepared pan . Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 1 hour or until cake is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into center comes out clean..

4. Remove cake from oven immediately upon completion of cooking time .
