- 1/2 cup white granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup chopped walnuts, optional
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat to make cleanup a breeze.
Cream the butter and sugars in a large bowl until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
Beat in that egg and vanilla extract until well combined. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined.
Don’t overmix! Stir in those delicious chocolate chips and walnuts (if using). The dough might be a bit sticky, but that’s okay.
Scoop tablespoon-sized balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving about 2 inches of space between each cookie.
You should end up with around 10-12 cookies. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden brown.
Remove from the oven and let those babies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
