Peanut Butter Bars III
These are the best peanut butter bars you will ever eat! They are so easy to make and only require a few ingredients. The result is a rich, gooey, and delicious bar that is perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
- 1 cup shortening
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 2 cups confectioners’ sugar
- ½ cup peanut butter
- 1 tablespoon butter or margarine, softened
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ½ cup milk
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
2. Cream together shortening and sugar. Add the beaten egg and 1 teaspoon vanilla; stir in flour and salt. Mix well.
3. Spread in the bottom of a 9 x 13 inch buttered pan. Bake for 15 minutes. Let cool before frosting.
4. To Make Frosting: Mix together confectioners’ sugar, peanut butter, butter or margarine, and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract . Add just enough milk for the proper consistency then spread over cooled bars
