Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter at room temperature
  • 1/2 cup white granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup packed dark brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the unsalted butter and sugars until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.

Beat in the egg one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined.

Stir in the chocolate chips.

Use a cookie scoop or spoon to drop rounded balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving about 2 inches of space between each cookie. Bake for 12-14 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden brown.

Remove from the oven and let cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Repeat the baking process until all the dough is used up, which should give you around 7 delicious cookies.

Notes

Make sure to use room temperature butter for a better texture and flavor. When measuring the brown sugar, pack it tightly into the measuring cup to get the right amount.

Use high-quality chocolate chips for the best flavor.

If you don’t have a cookie scoop, a spoon will do the trick! Don’t overcrowd the baking sheet, leaving 2 inches of space between each cookie is key. If you want a chewier cookie, bake for 10-11 minutes.

If you prefer a crisper cookie, bake for 14-15 minutes.
