Homemade Peanut Butter Cups
Making your own peanut butter cups is easier than you might think! With just a few ingredients, you can whip up a batch of these delicious treats in no time.
Ingredients
- 2 cups milk chocolate chips
- 2 tablespoons butter or margarine
- 1/2 cup peanut butter
- 1 cup confectioners’ sugar
- 1/3 to 1/2 cup graham cracker crumbs
Instructions
1. In a 1-quart saucepan, combine the chocolate chips and shortening. Cook over low heat, stirring occasionally, until melted and smooth (3 to 5 minutes).
2. Loosen the top paper cup from the stack, but leave it in the stack for greater stability while being coated. With a small paint brush, coat the inside of the top cup evenly with about 1 teaspoon of melted chocolate to about 1/8-inch thickness, bringing the coating almost to the top of the cup but not over edge. Repeat this process until 30 cups are coated; then refrigerate them.
3. In a 2-quart saucepan, combine butter or margarine and peanut butter. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until melted (4 to 6 minutes). Stir in confectioners’ sugar and graham cracker crumbs. Press about 1/2 tablespoon of filling into each chocolate cup.
4 Spoon about 1/2 teaspoon of melted chocolate on top of filling; spread to cover completely . Freeze until firm (about 2 hours); then carefully peel off paper cups . Store refrigerated
