Ready Time
30 mins
Yields
10 servings
Ingredients
- 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
- 1 cup fresh mint leaves
- 1/2 cup fresh ginger, peeled and sliced
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
- 4 cups water
- Ice cubes, for serving
Instructions
Start by rinsing the strawberries, mint leaves, and ginger, and pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture. In a large pitcher, muddle the sliced strawberries and fresh mint leaves together until they’re well combined and the strawberries start to release their juice.
Add the sliced ginger to the pitcher and muddle again until everything is well combined.
In a small bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar and 1 cup of hot water until the sugar is completely dissolved. Add the sugar syrup to the pitcher and stir to combine.
Add the freshly squeezed lemon juice to the pitcher and stir again.
Add the 4 cups of water to the pitcher and stir well to combine. Chill the mixture in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours to allow the flavors to meld together.
Once chilled, give the mixture a good stir and taste to adjust the sweetness and flavor to your liking.
To serve, fill glasses with ice and pour the lemonade over the ice. Stir gently and garnish with additional sliced strawberries and mint leaves, if desired.
Sit back, sip, and savor the refreshing flavors of summer!
Notes
Use fresh and ripe strawberries for the best flavor and texture.
Remove any stems or white parts, as they can be bitter.
For the mint leaves, choose bright green and fresh leaves for the best flavor and aroma.
Pat them dry gently to remove excess moisture, as excess water can make the lemonade cloudy.
Use a microplane or fine grater to peel the ginger, as it will help to release its natural oils and flavor.
To reduce the sugar content, you can reduce the sugar to 3/4 cup or even less, depending on your taste.
You can also use honey or agave nectar as an alternative sweetener.
To make the lemonade ahead of time, prepare the mixture up to a day in advance, but don’t add the fresh lemon juice until just before serving, as it can become bitter.
For a more intense flavor, let the mixture chill for a longer period, like 4-6 hours or even overnight.
Just make sure to give it a good stir before serving.
This recipe makes about 10 servings, but it’s easy to double or triple the recipe for larger gatherings or parties.
Simply adjust the ingredient quantities accordingly.
To make individual servings, simply pour the lemonade over ice in a glass and stir gently.
You can also add a splash of sparkling water for a fizzy twist.
