Ready Time
45 mins
Yields
8 servings
Ingredients
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour, 1 tsp baking soda, 1 tsp salt, 1 cup unsalted butter, softened, 3/4 cup white granulated sugar, 3/4 cup brown sugar, 2 large eggs, 2 tsp pure vanilla extract, 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
Set it aside for now.
In a large bowl, use an electric mixer to cream together the butter and sugars until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes. Beat in those eggs one at a time, making sure each one is fully incorporated before adding the next.
Beat in the vanilla extract too.
Gradually mix in the dry ingredients (the flour mixture) until just combined. Don’t overmix, okay?
Stir in those amazing chocolate chips.
You’ll want to snack on them, but resist the temptation – they’re for the cookies, remember? Scoop tablespoon-sized balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving about 2 inches of space between each cookie.
Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden brown and the centers are set.
Remove the cookies from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely. That’s it! You now have 8 delicious, chewy chocolate chip cookies, just like Mom’s.
Notes
Use high-quality chocolate chips for the best flavor.
Don’t overmix the dough, as it can lead to tough cookies.
Make sure to leave enough space between each cookie on the baking sheet, as they’ll spread during baking.
If you want a chewier cookie, take them out of the oven at 9-10 minutes.
For a crisper cookie, bake for 12-13 minutes.
You can freeze the dough balls on a baking sheet, then transfer them to a freezer-safe bag or container for up to 3 months.
Bake frozen dough balls for an additional 2-3 minutes.
