Ready Time
1 hrs 30 mins
Yields
8 servings
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 sticks cold unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
- 1/2 cup ice-cold water
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tablespoon everything seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 package of puff pastry, thawed (about 1 1/2 pounds)
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a small bowl, mix together the Parmesan cheese, everything seasoning, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
Set aside.
Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface to a thickness of about 1/8 inch.
Brush the pastry with the beaten egg for a golden glaze.
Sprinkle the Parmesan cheese mixture evenly over the center of the pastry, leaving a 1-inch border on both sides.
Fold the 1-inch borders over the filling to create a seal, then fold the pastry in half lengthwise, like a letter.
Cut the pastry into 8 equal pieces.
Cut each piece in half lengthwise, then twist each half into a rope shape, curling the ends towards each other to form a twist.
Place the twists on the prepared baking sheet.
Brush the tops of the twists with the remaining egg wash.
Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
Serve warm and enjoy!
Notes
Be gentle when handling the puff pastry, as it can tear easily.
Make sure to keep the butter cold, as this will help the pastry to puff up nicely in the oven.
If you don’t have everything seasoning, you can substitute it with a mix of poppy seeds, sesame seeds, dried onion, and dried garlic.
To get a nice golden glaze, make sure to brush the egg wash evenly over the pastry before baking.
If you want to get ahead, you can prepare the Parmesan cheese mixture and store it in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
Twisting the pastry ropes can be a bit tricky, so don’t worry if they don’t all turn out perfectly – they’ll still be delicious!
