Ingredients
- 7 whole wheat pita breads
- 1 1/2 cups pizza sauce
- 21 ounces mozzarella cheese, sliced
- 7 ounces pepperoni slices
- 1/2 cup chopped fresh basil
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1/4 cup olive oil
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
Add the chopped onion and cook until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute. Cut the whole wheat pita breads in half and place them in the skillet, cut side down.
Cook for 2-3 minutes or until lightly toasted.
Flip the pita breads over and spread about 1/4 cup of pizza sauce on each half. Top with a slice of mozzarella cheese, a few slices of pepperoni, and a sprinkle of chopped basil.
Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly. Remove the skillet from the oven and let the pita pizzas cool for a few minutes before serving.
Serve hot and enjoy!

You can customize your pita pizzas to your liking by adding your favorite toppings – just be sure not to overload them so the crust doesn’t get soggy.
If you want a crisper crust, bake the pita breads for an additional 2-3 minutes.
Keep an eye on them so they don’t get too brown.
