Cream Of Wheat Edible Cookie Dough

Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups Cream of Wheat cereal
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup confectioners’ sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
- Colored sprinkles or chopped nuts for garnish (optional)
Instructions
In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter and confectioners’ sugar until light and fluffy. Add the brown sugar and beat until well combined.
Beat in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the Cream of Wheat cereal and salt. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients and mix until a dough forms.
Fold in the chocolate chips and walnuts (if using).
Cover the dough with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld. Once chilled, scoop out tablespoon-sized balls of dough onto a parchment-lined baking sheet, leaving about 2 inches of space between each ball.
Place the baking sheet in the freezer for 10-15 minutes to firm up the dough.
Serve the cookie dough balls chilled, garnished with colored sprinkles or chopped nuts if desired. You can also store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
Notes
Use any type of sugar substitute you like, just keep in mind it might affect the flavor.
Make sure to use softened butter for a lighter dough.
Don’t overmix the Cream of Wheat and salt mixture, it’s okay if it’s a bit crumbly.
Take your time when adding the dry ingredients to the wet ones, you want a smooth dough.
For a chocolate overload, use more than 1 cup of chocolate chips! If you’re not into walnuts, swap them with any other nut you like.
Let the dough chill for a longer time if you want a firmer cookie dough.
You can also use a cookie scoop to form the balls, makes it easier and they’ll be more uniform.
