What is the difference between citron and lemon?

There are several key differences between citrons and lemons. The most obvious is the shape. Citrons can have a variety of shapes, while lemons are typically oval or spherical.

The other major difference is in the taste. Citrons are much more sour than lemons, making them less popular as a fruit to eat on their own. However, their strong flavor makes them ideal for use in savory dishes or as a garnish.

Citrons also have a thicker skin than lemons, which can make them difficult to peel. This thick skin is full of essential oils that give citrons their characteristic scent.

What is candied fruit made of?

Candied fruit is made of whole fruit, smaller pieces of fruit, or pieces of peel that have been placed in heated sugar syrup. The syrup absorbs the moisture from within the fruit and eventually preserves it. Depending on the size and type of fruit, this process of preservation can take from several days to several months.

The sugar syrup used to make candied fruits is typically made by boiling sugar and water together until the sugar dissolves. Sometimes other ingredients, such as lemon juice or corn syrup, are added to the syrup to change its flavor or texture. Once the syrup has cooled, the fruit is added and allowed to soak for a period of time before being removed and dried.

The resulting candied fruits are often used as decorations or toppings for cakes and other desserts. They can also be eaten on their own as a sweet treat.
