Ingredients

  • 2 cups blueberries, fresh or frozen
  • 1 1/2 cups ginger ale
  • 1/2 cup freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 1/4 cup simple syrup (equal parts sugar and water, dissolved)
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh mint leaves, for garnish
  • 1-inch piece of fresh ginger, peeled and thinly sliced
  • Ice cubes, for serving
  • Sliced fresh lime, for serving

Instructions

Rinse the blueberries and pat them dry with a paper towel.

If using frozen blueberries, let them thaw first.

In a large pitcher, mix together the ginger ale, lime juice, and simple syrup.

Stir until the simple syrup is fully dissolved.

Add the blueberries to the pitcher and stir gently to combine.

Make sure they’re fully coated with the liquid.

Add the sliced fresh ginger to the pitcher and stir again.

Cover the pitcher with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight to allow the flavors to meld together.

Just before serving, stir in the chopped fresh mint leaves.

Fill glasses with ice and pour the Blueberry Ginger Fizz over the ice.

Stir gently and garnish each glass with a slice of fresh lime and a sprig of fresh mint.

Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

You can use frozen blueberries for this recipe, just be sure to thaw them first. Fresh blueberries are ideal, but frozen will do in a pinch.

Adjust the amount of simple syrup to your taste, depending on how sweet you like your drinks.

You can also make a simple syrup ahead of time and store it in the fridge for up to a month. Don’t skip refrigerating the mixture for at least 2 hours – it makes a big difference in the flavor.

For a fancier look, garnish with a few extra blueberries and a sprig of rosemary along with the mint and lime.

You can easily double or triple this recipe for a larger crowd. Just be sure to adjust the refrigeration time accordingly.

This drink is perfect for spring and summer gatherings, but it’s refreshing enough to enjoy year-round.

Experiment with different types of ginger ale for varying levels of spice.
