Ready Time
10 mins
Yields
5 servings
Ingredients
- 2 ripe sapotes, peeled, pitted, and chopped
- 1/2 cup frozen banana
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/4 cup unsweetened almond milk
- 1/4 cup plain Greek yogurt
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Ice cubes (optional)
Instructions
Add the chopped sapote, frozen banana, cocoa powder, almond milk, Greek yogurt, honey, and vanilla extract to a blender.
Blend the mixture on high speed until smooth and creamy, stopping to scrape down the sides of the blender as needed.
Add ice cubes to the blender if you want a thicker, colder smoothie.
Blend again until the ice is fully incorporated.
Pour the smoothie into five glasses and serve immediately.
You can garnish with a sprinkle of cocoa powder or a few chopped nuts, if desired.
Notes
This smoothie is best made with ripe sapotes, so make sure to choose ones that are slightly soft to the touch and have a sweet, slightly musky aroma. If using frozen banana, thaw it first to ensure a smoother blend.
You can also use a regular banana if you prefer, but frozen banana adds natural sweetness and a thicker texture.
For a stronger chocolate flavor, add a bit more cocoa powder or a sprinkle of chocolate chips. You can also use dark cocoa powder for a deeper flavor.
If you prefer a thinner smoothie, add a splash more almond milk.
If you prefer it thicker, add a few more ice cubes or a spoonful of Greek yogurt. You can also customize this smoothie to your taste by adding a handful of spinach or kale for a green smoothie, or a few slices of fresh pineapple for added sweetness.
Feel free to get creative with toppings – a sprinkle of cocoa powder, chopped nuts, shredded coconut, or even a drizzle of honey can add a fun touch to your smoothie.
