Ready Time

Yields

8 servings

Ingredients

  • 1 pound firm white fish (such as mahi-mahi, tilapia, or cod)
  • 2 tablespoons blackening seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 8 corn tortillas
  • 1/4 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1/2 cup diced red cabbage
  • 1/2 cup diced red bell pepper
  • 1/4 cup diced fresh cilantro
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 avocado, sliced (optional)
  • Sliced radishes, lime wedges, and sour cream (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C). Pat the fish dry with paper towels.

In a small bowl, mix together the blackening seasoning, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper.

Sprinkle the spice mixture evenly over both sides of the fish. Place the fish in the air fryer basket, leaving about 1 inch of space between each piece.

Cook for 8-10 minutes or until the fish is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork.

While the fish is cooking, warm the tortillas by wrapping them in a damp paper towel and microwaving for 20-30 seconds. Once the fish is cooked, break it into small pieces and place onto the warmed tortillas.

Top each taco with a dollop of Greek yogurt, some diced red cabbage, red bell pepper, and a sprinkle of cilantro.

Drizzle with lime juice and olive oil, then top with sliced avocado if using. Serve with sliced radishes, lime wedges, and sour cream on the side, if desired.

Notes

Use any firm white fish you like, but mahi-mahi, tilapia, or cod work beautifully. Make sure to pat the fish dry before seasoning to help the spices stick.

If you like a little extra heat, don’t be shy with the cayenne pepper – add more to taste! For extra crispy tortillas, grill or pan-fry them in a bit of olive oil before warming them in the microwave.

Don’t overcook the fish – it’s done when it flakes easily with a fork. Want to make it a meal?

Add some sautéed veggies, beans, or Mexican street corn on the side.

You can prep the toppings ahead of time – just store them in airtight containers in the fridge until ready to assemble. Leftover fish makes a great salad topping or addition to a breakfast burrito – just refrigerate or freeze until ready to use.

These tacos are super customizable – add your favorite toppings or experiment with different spice blends to make them your own!
