Ingredients
- 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 5 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
- 5 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup freshly squeezed lime juice
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
- 2 teaspoons grated fresh ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 10 slices of bread (for serving)
Instructions
Rinse the shrimp under cold water, pat them dry with paper towels, and set aside. In a large skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat.
Add the garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
Add the grated ginger and sauté for another minute, until the mixture is well combined. Add the shrimp to the skillet and sauté for 2-3 minutes per side, until they’re pink and cooked through.
Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set them aside on a plate.
In the same skillet, add the remaining 3 tablespoons of butter. Once melted, add the lime juice, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes.
Stir well to combine.
Add the chopped cilantro and parsley to the skillet and stir to combine. Return the cooked shrimp to the skillet and toss them in the garlic butter sauce to coat.
Serve the shrimp hot with toasted bread slices on the side for sopping up the sauce.
Notes
Use large, fresh, and high-quality shrimp for the best flavor and texture. Make sure to pat the shrimp dry with paper towels to prevent excess moisture.
Soften the butter to room temperature to ensure it melts smoothly and prevents burning.
You can also use salted butter if you prefer a savory flavor. Don’t overcook the garlic, as it can quickly become bitter.
Sauté it for 1-2 minutes until fragrant, then move on to the next step.
Freshly squeezed lime juice is a must for this recipe. Don’t use bottled juice, as it lacks the brightness and depth of fresh lime juice.
Chop the cilantro and parsley just before adding them to the skillet to preserve their freshness and flavor.
For an extra kick, increase the amount of red pepper flakes to your desired level of spiciness. Toast the bread slices just before serving to get the best texture.
You can also use crusty bread or baguette for a heartier base.
This recipe makes 10 servings, perfect for a dinner party or special occasion. You can easily double or triple the recipe for a larger crowd.
