Ready Time

1 hrs 50 mins

Yields

10 servings

Ingredients

  • 2 cups of warm water
  • 2 teaspoons of active dry yeast
  • 3 tablespoons of sugar
  • 4 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/4 cup of unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup of cinnamon sugar (a mixture of granulated sugar and cinnamon)
  • 1/2 cup of brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup of cinnamon sugar for topping
  • 1/4 cup of unsalted butter, softened, for topping

Instructions

In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm water and yeast.

Let it sit for 5-7 minutes, or until the yeast is activated and foamy.

Add the sugar, flour, and salt to the bowl.

Mix until a dough forms.

Add the melted butter to the dough and mix until the dough is smooth and elastic.

Knead the dough on a floured surface for 10 minutes, or until the dough is smooth and elastic.

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it has doubled in size.

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

On a floured surface, roll out the dough to a rectangle shape, about 1/4-inch thick.

Mix the cinnamon sugar and sprinkle it evenly over the dough, leaving a 1-inch border around the edges.

Roll the dough into a tight log, starting from the long side.

Cut the log into 10 equal pieces.

Place the rolls on a greased baking sheet, leaving about 1 inch of space between each roll.

Cover the rolls with a clean towel and let them rise for another 30 minutes.

Bake the rolls for 18-20 minutes, or until golden brown.

While the rolls are baking, mix the brown sugar and cinnamon sugar for the topping.

Remove the rolls from the oven and let them cool for 5 minutes.

Drizzle the melted butter over the rolls, then sprinkle the brown sugar mixture evenly over the rolls.

Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

Make sure to use warm water for yeast activation, as cold water won’t do the trick. Also, don’t overmix the dough, as it can lead to tough rolls.

When adding the melted butter to the dough, mix until it’s smooth and elastic.

Knead the dough for the full 10 minutes to get the desired smoothness and elasticity. Keep an eye on the dough while it’s rising, as it can over-rise if left too long.

When rolling out the dough, make sure it’s even and not too thin, as it can break apart.

Don’t overload the rolls with the cinnamon sugar mixture, as it can make them too sweet. Leave enough space between the rolls on the baking sheet, as they will expand during baking.
