These butter cookies are a classic recipe that is perfect for any occasion. They are simple to make and only require a few ingredients. The cookies are made with butter, sugar, flour, and eggs. They are soft and chewy with a slight crunch on the outside.
Ingredients
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 1 cup white sugar
- 1 egg
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg, then stir in the vanilla. In another bowl, combine the flour and salt; gradually stir into the sugar mixture. Cover dough, and chill for at least one hour (or up to 2 days).
Chill cookie sheets. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Press dough out onto ungreased, chilled cookie sheets. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in preheated oven, or until lightly golden at edges. Remove cookies from sheet to wire rack to cool completely.
