Ready Time
45 mins
Yields
7 servings
Ingredients
- 1 and 1/4 sticks unsalted butter, at room temperature
- 1/2 cup white granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
- 2 and 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugars until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
Beat in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined.
Stir in the chocolate chips.
Drop rounded tablespoonfuls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving about 2 inches of space between each cookie.
Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden brown.
Remove from the oven and let cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Let the cookies cool completely before storing them in an airtight container.
Notes
These cookies are best served fresh, but they’ll keep for up to a week in an airtight container at room temperature. Use high-quality chocolate chips for the best flavor.
It’s worth the splurge! If you want a crisper cookie, bake for 12 minutes.
If you prefer a chewier cookie, bake for 10 minutes. These cookies freeze beautifully, so feel free to scoop spoonfuls of dough onto a baking sheet, freeze until solid, and then transfer to a freezer-safe bag for up to 3 months.
Simply bake frozen dough balls for an extra minute or two.
For a more golden brown cookie, use a combination of white and brown sugar. The molasses in the brown sugar adds a richer flavor too! These cookies are perfect for gift-giving or shipping to friends and family.
Just be sure to package them tightly in airtight containers to preserve their texture.
