Ready Time

30 mins

Yields

9 servings

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • 9 slices of cheese (American, cheddar, or your preference)
  • Letuce
  • Tomatoes
  • Pickles
  • Onion slices
  • Mayonnaise or ketchup

Instructions

Preheat a grill or grill pan to medium-high heat.

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, chopped onion, minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, salt, black pepper, and paprika.

Use your hands or a spoon to mix the ingredients until they’re just combined.

Don’t overmix! Divide the mixture into 9 equal portions and shape each portion into a ball.

Flatten each ball slightly into a patty.

Place the patties onto the preheated grill and cook for about 5 minutes per side, or until they’re cooked to your desired level of doneness.

While the burgers are cooking, toast the hamburger buns on the grill or in a toaster.

Once the burgers are cooked, assemble the hamburgers by spreading mayonnaise or ketchup on the bottom bun, adding a cooked patty, a slice of cheese, some letuce, tomato, pickles, onion slices, and finally the top bun.

Repeat with the remaining ingredients.

Serve immediately and dig in!

Notes

Make sure to handle the raw meat safely and cook the burgers to an internal temperature of at least 160°F to ensure food safety.

Don’t press down on the burgers while they’re grilling, as this can squeeze out juices and make them dry.

If you’re not using the grill, you can cook the burgers in a hot skillet on the stovetop or in the oven under the broiler.

For extra flavor, add some sautéed mushrooms or onions to the burger patty mixture before grilling.

You can also customize your burger by adding different toppings like bacon, avocado, or a fried egg.

To make ahead, prepare the burger patties up to a day in advance and store them in the refrigerator until grilling time.
