Yields

6 servings

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs, 3 cloves of garlic, minced, 2 tbsp sesame oil, 2 tbsp soy sauce, 2 tbsp honey, 1 tsp grated ginger, 1 tsp sesame seeds, salt and pepper, to taste, 2 tbsp olive oil, 2 tbsp chopped green onions, for garnish.

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

In a blender or food processor, blend together garlic, sesame oil, soy sauce, honey, ginger, salt, and pepper until you get a smooth marinade.

In a large bowl, whisk together the marinade and sesame seeds.

Add the chicken thighs to the bowl, making sure they’re fully coated with the marinade.

Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight.

Remove the chicken from the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for 30 minutes.

Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil, brush with olive oil, and arrange the chicken thighs on it, skin side up.

Bake the chicken in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes or until the skin is crispy and golden brown.

While the chicken is baking, prepare the garnish by mixing chopped green onions and a pinch of salt in a small bowl.

Once the chicken is done, remove it from the oven and garnish with the green onion mixture.

Serve hot and enjoy!

Notes

Use high-quality sesame oil for the best flavor.

You can also toast sesame seeds in a small dry pan over medium heat for a few minutes to enhance their nutty flavor and aroma.

If you don’t have a blender or food processor, you can mince the garlic and ginger finely and mix all the marinade ingredients in a bowl.

Let the chicken sit at room temperature for 30 minutes to ensure even cooking.

Don’t overcrowd the baking sheet, bake in batches if necessary.

For crisper skin, pat the chicken dry with paper towels before baking.

You can serve with steamed vegetables or a side salad for a well-rounded meal.

Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 3 days or frozen for up to 2 months.
