Easy Streusel Coffee Cake

What’s the difference between coffee cake and streusel?

There are two main types of coffee cake: those with a streusel topping, and those without. Streusel-topped coffee cake is typically made with a combination of flour, sugar, butter, and cinnamon. The streusel topping adds sweetness and crunch to the cake, making it a popular choice for breakfast or brunch. Coffee cake without streusel often has frosting or glaze instead. While both types of coffee cake are delicious, the addition of streusel makes it a unique and tasty treat.

What is the difference between coffee and crumb cake?

There are a few key differences between coffee and crumb cake. The most obvious difference is the amount of streusel topping. Coffee cake has less streusel topping, while crumb cake has a thicker layer of streusel on top. This is because coffee cake is meant to be enjoyed with a cup of coffee, and the extra streusel on top would make it too sweet. Another difference is that coffee cake often has a filling in the middle, such as fruit or jam, while crumb cake does not. Finally, coffee cake is typically baked in a round pan, while crumb cake is usually baked in a square or rectangular pan.

So which should you choose? If you’re looking for something to enjoy with your morning cup of coffee, go for coffee cake. If you want something that’s more like dessert, go for crumbcake.
