Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 large egg whites
- 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
In a large mixing bowl, sift together the powdered sugar and salt until well combined.
In a separate bowl, whip the softened butter until it’s light and fluffy.
Gradually add the powdered sugar mixture to the butter, whipping until smooth and creamy.
In another clean bowl, beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form.
Add the almond extract to the egg whites and whip until well combined.
Gently fold the egg white mixture into the powdered sugar mixture until no white streaks remain.
Notes
Make sure to sift the powdered sugar and salt thoroughly to avoid any lumps in your frosting.
Don’t overmix the butter and powdered sugar mixture, as it can become too stiff.
Beat those egg whites until they’re stiff and hold their shape – it’s worth the extra effort! If you’re not using the frosting right away, you can store it in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
Bring it to room temperature before using.
With 4 servings, you can frost a small cake or a dozen cupcakes – perfect for a special occasion!
