Caramel Frosting

This recipe for caramel frosting is creamy and delicious, with just the right amount of sweetness. It’s perfect for topping cakes or cupcakes, or even for eating by the spoonful!

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons butter,
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar,
  • 3 tablespoons milk (or more as needed),
  • 1 cup confectioners’ sugar,
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

1. Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat.

2. Stir in brown sugar and 3 tablespoons milk, then boil vigorously for 1 minute.

3. Remove from heat and stir in 1/2 cup confectioners’ sugar, cooling slightly before adding vanilla extract and remaining 1/2 cup of confectioners’ sugar.

4. Add more milk if mixture is too thick – it should be spreadable but not runny when finished!
