This Biscuits and Gravy Casserole is a delicious, hearty dish that is perfect for a winter meal. The casserole is made with biscuits, sausage gravy, and cheese, and is sure to please the whole family. I personally love this dish because it is easy to make and can be made ahead of time.
Ingredients
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 3 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 3/4 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold
- 1 cup buttermilk, cold
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Instructions
1. Preheat the oven to 400°F. 2. In a large bowl, combine flour, cornstarch, baking powder, and salt. Cut butter into chunks and sprinkle over dry ingredients. Using a pastry blender or knife, cut butter into the dry ingredients until it resembles peas. 3. Add buttermilk and toss mixture with a spatula until it starts to look shaggy (most of the buttermilk should be absorbed). 4. Turn out dough onto a clean surface dusted with flour and gather together with your hands into a mound 5. Roll out dough until it is 10-inches wide then use a spatula or bench scraper to fold 1/3 from the left side to center followed by flipping the other side over that side 6. Rotate dough 90 degrees then roll it out again to 10-inch square 7. Repeat process of rolling out and folding two more times 8.(By fourth time, biscuit dough will hold together) 9..
