Yields
9 servings
Ingredients
- 3 cups frozen strawberries
- 2 1/4 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
- 1 1/2 cups vanilla yogurt
- 1 1/4 cups milk
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh basil leaves
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- Ice cubes (as needed)
- Salt (to taste)
Instructions
In a blender, combine the frozen strawberries, sliced fresh strawberries, vanilla yogurt, milk, honey, chopped basil leaves, and lemon juice. Blend the mixture on high speed until smooth and creamy.
Taste and adjust the sweetness by adding more honey if needed.
Add ice cubes if you want a thicker consistency. Blend again until the ice is crushed and the smoothie is the desired consistency.
Season with a pinch of salt to bring out the flavors.
Pour the smoothie into 9 glasses and serve immediately. You can garnish each glass with additional fresh basil leaves or sliced strawberries, if desired.
Notes
Don’t forget to grab those fresh strawberries at the peak of their season for the sweetest flavor! You can also use frozen strawberries that have been thawed if fresh ones are not available.
If you want a thicker consistency, add more ice cubes or a few more frozen strawberries.
Feel free to play around with the amount of honey to your taste, or try substituting it with another sweetener like maple syrup.
For an extra burst of flavor, muddle the chopped basil leaves with the honey before adding it to the blender.
Don’t be afraid to add a pinch more salt than you think you need – it really brings out the flavors of the strawberries and basil!
