Swedish Nut Bars

These Swedish Nut Bars are perfect for any occasion! Made with simple ingredients like butter, sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract, they come together quickly and easily. The end result is a deliciously sweet and nutty treat that everyone will love.

Ingredients

  • 6 eggs, 1 1/2 cups white sugar, 3 1/2 cups finely ground almonds, 3 teaspoons almond extract, 1 teaspoon baking powder

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C).

2. Prepare a 9 x 9 x 2 inch baking pan by lining bottom with either waxed paper or parchment paper. Grease the paper.

3. Separate the eggs and reserve the whites. Beat egg yolks until thick and tripled in volume in one bowl . Add sugar slowly, beating until very thick in a second bowl .

4. Slowly fold in nuts and extract to the mixture in the second bowl .

5. Beat egg whites until stiff but not dry in a third bowl . Fold them into the yolk mixture from the second bowl .

6 Pour batter into prepared pan.

7 Bake for one hour or until done 8 Cool in pan for 10 minutes then turn out and remove paper 9 Cool completely 10 Cut as needed
