What does adding sour cream to cookies do?

When you add sour cream to your cookie dough, the acid tenderizes it by breaking down the gluten molecules into smaller pieces. This leads to a softer, cake-like cookie, just like how Grandma used to make. She probably used these secret ingredients in her baking, too!

Sour cream is an excellent source of fat and protein, both of which are essential for creating delicious cookies. The fat content in sour cream helps to keep the cookies moist and soft, while the protein aids in binding the ingredients together. In addition, sour cream also contains lactic acid, which acts as a natural leavening agent. When combined with baking soda or powder, it can help produce light and fluffy cookies that are sure to please any sweet tooth.

How do you upgrade Betty Crocker cookie mix?

There are a few key ways to upgrade Betty Crocker cookie mix, or any other boxed cookie mix. First, use butter instead of margarine; make sure that the butter is at room temperature. This will give the cookies a richer flavor and better texture. Second, chill the cookie dough before baking. This will help prevent spreading and result in a more uniform shape. Third, use brown sugar and vanilla extract for added sweetness and flavor. Finally, adjust baking time according to your taste. If you like your cookies on the softer side, reduce the bake time by a minute or two. Conversely, if you prefer them to be more crispy, increase the bake time slightly.

Sugar cookies are a classic dessert that can be enjoyed any time of year. Whether you’re making them for a holiday or just because, they’re always a treat. And while traditional sugar cookie dough is delicious on its own, adding sour cream to the mix can take these cookies to the next level.
